Artificial intelligence in the USA called into question following teen suicide

A 14-year old teenager in the United States committed suicide by hanging himself on February. A few months prior to his death, the 14-year-old had started a virtual conversation with artificial intelligence. Megan Garcia was not aware of the virtual relationship. She said, ” I didn’t realize he was speaking to an artificial intelligent with a voice so human, and with the capability to mimic human feelings and emotions,“, on CBS.

Mother files suit against company

Her son used a conversational character created by the fictional company. He had grown to be a part of this relationship over the course of months. The teenager confided in his mother that he was planning to commit suicide. He was not deterred by the virtual character, so his mother lodged a complaint. The American firm said that it was horrified by the incident and promised to strengthen its security measures.
