A new feature on X has people talking. Grok is a new feature that allows users to create images and texts using artificial intelligence in a matter of seconds. This tool was made free to encourage new users at the start of December. Since then, fake images are abounding on X. The network is already known for its false news.
Images aren’t realistic. Jordan Bardella, for example, can be seen hugging Jean Luc Melenchon. John Lennon & Paul Mc Cartney are also shown together. Grok is a good performer if you’re only looking at the form. Overall, the faces are very well-done. You may find a few minor flaws, such as distorted eyeballs or inconsistent facial contours. But if you are not paying attention or look too quickly you could easily fall for them.
The new tool could lead to more misinformation, because some images are funny and lighthearted while others can be based on real-life events. In recent days, a fake image of Emmanuel Macron and former Syrian leader Bashar Al-Assad circulated, despite the fact that they have never met.
When you ask artificial intelligence questions the results are not always accurate. Grok, for example, is accused by American politicians of spreading fake information when it suggests that Donald Trump’s 2020 election against Joe Biden was rigged.
Looser rules than other AIs
Grok also assumes that it is unreliable. You can read in the AI terms and conditions(New Window) that it “may” make errors and provide misleading or incorrect information.
Grok is also more flexible in its rules of use than other artificial intelligences. Chatgpt is one of the most popular and widely-used AIs. It refuses to make images that are based on politicians or dictators in order to avoid them being manipulated. Grok can, however, create images of Adolf Hitler. Nudity, and images of children is prohibited.
