After its recent use at the Olympic Games, algorithmic surveillance may soon be widely used. The artificially intelligent cameras were used at the international sports event in order to better detect dangerous situations. The experiment had a limited time frame, but the authorities have already expressed a desire to expand its usage, despite the fact that the technology is yet to show its value.

Effective technology?

A concert was held in March to test the technology. Senators gave a detailed report of the event: “We were aware that the technology didn’t function.” Their report states that the Olympics are an opportunity for further experimentation. However, this is not a way to secure. The company that is developing artificial intelligence software insists the technology has great potential.
