The portrait of English mathematician Alan Turing, which was sold for 1 million Euros on Thursday 7 November 2024. Sotheby’s has announced that this is the first piece of artwork created by a robot humanoid to ever be auctioned. A.I. God, created by Ai Da, the first robot artist to create ultra-realistic works, smashed expectations, fetching over $1,08 million in a sale online by an auction house.

The auction house said: ” Today’s record-breaking sale price for the first piece of artwork by a robot humanoid artist reflects the increasing intersection of artificial intelligence and global art markets.”

“The divine nature of AI and computing”

My work’s fundamental value is that it can serve as a tool for dialogue on emerging technologies,” declared the robot who expressed himself via an AI. Ai-Da says that the ” Portrait of Alan Turing, pioneer of computing and AI invites viewers reflect on the divinity of AI while also considering the ethical implications“.

Ai-Da is named after Ada Lovelace, a pioneer of computer science who was also a designer. Ai-Da was named for Ada Lovelace who is considered to be a pioneer in computer science. It was created by Aidan Meller a specialist of modern and contemporary arts. The robot uses AI for creating paintings and sculptures. It has bionic hands, cameras in the eyes, and a camera on its head. The robot moves itself and expresses its thoughts without any human involvement.

“Where will the power of AI take us ?”

Aidan Meller said, ” The greatest artists of history grappled and celebrated their time and also questioned the changes in society.” Alan Turing was a mathematician during World War II and considered to be one of the founders of Computer Science. He had expressed concerns about AI’s future use as early as 1950.

Meller pointed out that the ” dark shades and broken faces ” of the portrait of the mathematician seem to indicate ” difficulties Alan Turing warned about when dealing with AI“. Ai-Da’s work asks us to “what the future of AI holds, and the race around the world to harness this power“, Meller added.
