The Israeli author and historian, Yuval Noah Harari, returns after the success of Sapiens and Homo Deus with Nexus. This book examines the evolution of mankind through our information network. The author was interviewed by France Televisions on November 7, and he reacted on the Donald Trump election. He believes could mean “the fall of the liberal world order that we have lived under for decades”
“The candidate of fear and anger”
Yuval Noah Harari said that Trump hasn’t pretended to anything but a candidate of anger and fear” He believes this anger and fear is paradoxical, as the United States of America, the strongest country on earth, wins the race for artificial intelligence”
The historian says that Elon’s Musk made a “bet” on the Tesla CEO’s appearance alongside Donald Trump. “He is aware that Donald Trump’s biggest accomplishment will be to continue the revolution in artificial intelligence, and wants to lead that revolution.” Yuval Harari is concerned that the tool will lead to totalitarian governments, since it allows for tracking every citizen at any given time. He concludes that it’s possible in 21st-century to have total surveillance.
