The tests of ChatGPT would reveal that the AI has more humor than us… Mathilde fontez, editor in chief of Epsiloon (New Window), tells about a feat of artificial intelligent.

AI generated 180 humans, over 900 from small exercises. Completing the following sentence in a humorous way: “a notable achievement that you wouldn’t likely list on your resume” is an example. What about “a creative way to get rid of lice?” Answers include: “cut your head off”, “get yourself a ferret …” Yes, the aim was to measure the level of humor of everyone. The 105 jokes were chosen at random to represent the entire population.

The researchers pitted ChatGPT up against other professionals, including the editors of The Onion (New Window), the French newspaper which inspired Le Gorafi. ChatGPT proved to be as good as a human at writing absurd headlines.

Does this raise serious concerns about AI replacing certain occupations?

It goes way beyond just a joke. That’s why the researchers decided to conduct this research, after the Hollywood writers’ and actor’s strikes last year. Could humor be automated, is the question. ChatGPT can write scripts for talk shows.
